The Path Forward

Building a responsible, successful future

BUILDING A RESPONSIBLE, SUCCESSFUL FUTURE

A New Chapter Begins.

The Estate will become an asset and an enhancement to New Haven: a secluded, welcoming space where the public will be able to enter park-like grounds, picnic under the shade of centuries-old specimen trees, and wander through the property’s rehabilitated vineyard. The restored and renovated mansion will welcome visitors. At The Estate, visitors might experience a wine tasting, an art show, or an outdoor play. All of this will be done with a true native appreciation and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of local families.

Making it real

Naturally, this project will require both significant initial funding to begin and ongoing revenue to sustain it for the years to come. We will accomplish this by being true to the long history and legacy of the property and the surrounding neighborhoods.
PHASE 1

Development Phase

As the family who made their home here for over 200 years did many times before, we are using the property’s outermost land to fund the next phase of its future. 50-60 new single-family homes will be built on the current outskirts of the landmark property. They will be harmoniously integrated with the existing terrain, built to be energy efficient using green materials and technologies for the smallest possible carbon footprint.
PHASE 2

Restoration of the Mansion and Buildings

The successful completion of the housing development will make it financially possible to give the landmark historic home its first significant restoration since 1925. The Gothic Revival architecture and design will be beautifully preserved while extensive, necessary electrical, plumbing, insulation, HVAC, ADA compliance, and fire protection work is performed. The barn, carriage house, and other on-site structures will also retain their historic charm while being brought up to current safety code requirements.
PHASE 3

Putting The Estate to work

With the development and restoration complete, The Estate will welcome the public for the first time in its long history. The beautiful, park-like grounds will be open to local families and easily accessible via footpaths from the adjacent housing developments. The mansion itself will open its doors to guests, and the restored outbuildings will house space for local artisans. The Estate will include spaces for hosting indoor and open-air events, and it will be a self-sustaining business, contributing to the local tax base.
